It’s a happy day.
Black Fin has been named the 821st fastest growing, privately held company in the U.S. by Inc.
We were the 5th fastest growing company in the Cleveland metro area after achieving 551% growth over a 3-year period, which also makes us the 2nd fastest growing advertising & marketing company in Ohio.
As you can imagine, we’re pretty stoked.
A Bit About Inc.
Founded in 1979, Inc. is a publication dedicated to fast-growing and independent companies. Each year, they release a list of the fastest growing companies in America, which is measured by percentage of growth over a 3-year period.
Lots of fantastic companies have been listed in the Inc. 500 and 5000 over the years, including Microsoft, Dell, Domino’s Pizza, Pandora, Timberland, LinkedIn, Yelp, and Zillow.
Essentially, it’s the Fortune of growing companies and seen as a badge of honor for any business attempting to grow.
Inc. also publishes a monthly magazine, which has grown from 2,000,000 readers in 2010 to 18,000,000 today. (Gerrid reads it religiously.)
10+ Years in the Making
When Black Fin was formed 5 years ago, launched via Gerrid’s SEO business (SmithSEO), getting on the Inc. 5000 was one of our immediate goals; and it’s something Gerrid personally has had in his sights for about 13 years.
When we got him to settle down a bit, he had this to say…
“Honestly, it’s been a dream of mine to have Black Fin on the Inc. 5000 list since I first started the business,” Smith said, “It’s an achievement we’re all proud of, and we plan to keep growing at a rate that keeps us on the list for years to come.”
That’s right, we plan to be back next year, and the year after that, and the year after that.
It’s not been easy every step of the way. Scaling up a business brings with it all kinds of difficulties and challenges, from hiring top-tier talent, managing processes, ramping up customer service and sales, and staying focused.
That’s why we’ve stuck close to our mission of being client-centered, remained impassioned by innovation, and retained some of the smartest guys and gals we know.
But We’d Be Remiss…
If we didn’t recognize everyone else that has helped us get to this point.
Thanks to all of our awesome employees, clients, and families. Without all of you, this certainly wouldn’t have been achievable.
We’ve been blessed and honored to help many law firms over the years find success through the internet, and we’re excited for what’s yet to come.
Here’s to you.
